The Toon V Chelsea: Tips Round-Up

My Tips For Newcastle United V Chelsea: Round-Up

Every match I give myself 100 points to place a few hypothetical bets on Newcastle and 100 points to place a few general football bets using the odds available from SkyBet.com.  I then compare how the two sets of bets perform and analyse whether it's better to bet with your heart or your head.

Although Sissoko grabbed the headlines, it was an excellent team performance against Chelsea which earned us a well deserved three points and we're now only three points off tenth place.  When you consider that a couple of days before the Chelsea match, Ladbrokes were offering odds of 8/1 for us to finish in the top half of the table, anyone who got on at 8/1 might therefore be feeling quietly confident with their bet right now.

Anyway, for the fourth week running my tips had mixed results as once again my general football tips outperformed my Toon tips...

Match Result:
30 points on Draw at 3.6 - LOSS
A few matches ago the biggest problem with tipping Newcastle was overconfidence.  Now suddenly things have gone the other way and I've been over-cautious with my predictions for our last two matches.

1st Team To Score:
20 points on Newcastle at 2.25 - WIN 45 points
Once again we were the first team on the score sheet which means we've now scored first in 6 of our last 8 league games.  On current form you would have to say we're worth keeping an eye on in this market for future matches.

Correct Score:
10 points on 2-2 at 13.0 - LOSS
When making my 2-2 prediction I had reckoned without our new never-say-die spirit and Sissoko's late winner getting us a memorable and extremely satisfying three points.

Half With Most Goals:
20 points on 2nd Half at 2.0 - WIN 40 points
In recent games both Newcastle and Chelsea have conceded significantly more goals in the second half of matches and true to form this trend continued with two goals apiece coming in the second half.

Goalscorers:
20 points on Yohan Cabaye to score in 90 minutes at 5.0 - LOSS

Making an overall return of 85 points from 100 points and therefore an overall loss of 15 points.

For the fourth week running my general football tips made a profit, albeit a very slender one...

QPR V Norwich - Match Result:
15 points on Draw at 3.5 - WIN 53 points

Everton V Aston Villa - Correct Score:
10 points on Everton to win 2-1 at 8.0 - LOSS

Wigan V Southampton - Match Result:
15 points on Southampton at 3.6 - LOSS

Fulham V Man United - Match Result & Both Teams To Score:
20 points on Man United To Win and Both Team To Score at 3.1 - LOSS

West Brom V Spurs - Match Result:
25 points on Spurs at 2.05 - WIN 51 points

Preston V Shrewsbury - Match Result:
15 points on Draw at 3.4 - LOSS

Making an overall return of 104 points and therefore an overall profit of 4 points.

A decent run of form for my general football tips means that the current head to head totals between my two sets of tips currently stand at:

Newcastle tips - 9.5
General football tips -11.5

Next up we face a Tottenham side who are unbeaten in their last nine league games.  Despite this statistic though, our previous two performances mean we can still go into this match with reasonable grounds for confidence and I'll be making my tips during the week.
