Newcastle United V Chelsea (02/02/13)

My Tips For The Toon V Chelsea

Every match I give myself 100 points to place a few hypothetical bets on Newcastle and 100 points to place a few general football bets using the odds available from  I then compare how the two sets of bets perform and analyse whether it's better to bet with your heart or your head.

Chelsea will be a tricky test, but hopefully the win over Villa will help kick-start our season.  Here are my tips...

Match Result:
30 points on Draw at 3.6
On their day Chelsea are still a side to be feared, but they've been an inconsistent side under Benitez, and including cup competitions they have drawn four of their last five matches.

1st Team To Score:
20 points on Newcastle at 2.25
We've scored first in 5 of our last 7 league games.

Correct Score:
10 points on 2-2 at 13.0
3 of Chelsea's last 5 matches have ended 2-2.

Half With Most Goals:
20 points on 2nd Half at 2.0
In their last four league games Chelsea have conceded six goals, with all of them coming in the second half.  In our last five league games we've conceded twelve goals, with ten of them coming in the second half.  On current form both sides therefore seem more prone to conceding second half goals.

20 points on Yohan Cabaye to score in 90 minutes at 5.0

Route One

And to compare whether it's wiser to bet with your head or your heart, here are my general football tips...

QPR V Norwich - Match Result:
15 points on Draw at 3.5

Everton V Aston Villa - Correct Score:
10 points on Everton to win 2-1 at 8.0
Everton's last six league victories have come against West Brom, Newcastle, Wigan, West Ham, Tottenham, and Sunderland.  On each occasion the scoreline was 2-1.

Wigan V Southampton - Match Result:
15 points on Southampton at 3.6

Fulham V Man United - Match Result & Both Teams To Score:
20 points on Man United To Win and Both Team To Score at 3.1

West Brom V Spurs - Match Result:
25 points on Spurs at 2.05

Preston V Shrewsbury - Match Result:
15 points on Draw at 3.4

I'll check back after the weekend to see how my tips got on.
