Man City V Newcastle United (19/08/13)

A round-up of which bookies are offering the best prices.

We couldn't have been given a tougher opening fixture, and therefore even the biggest optimist would find it hard to confidently tip Newcastle away to Man City.

So instead here's a round-up of which bookies are offering the best odds on various betting markets for The Toon's opening fixture...

Match Betting:

Man City - 1.33 (Coral, Bet Victor, Paddy Power)
Draw - 5.5 (SkyBet, William Hill, Ladbrokes, Bet 365)
Newcastle United - 11.0 (SkyBet)

At the time of writing, in the First Goalscorer market Bet Victor are beating the odds of almost every other bookie for almost every Toon player...

First Goalscorer:

Toon:
Papiss Cisse - 16.0 (Bet Victor)
Shola Amoebi - 18.0 (Bet Victor)
Hatem Ben Arfa - 18.0 (Bet Victor)
Yoan Gouffran - 20.0 (Bet Victor)
Moussa Sissoko - 23.0 (Bet Victor, 188 Bet)
Yohan Cabaye - 23.0 (Bet Victor)

Man City:
Yaya Toure - 9.0 (Ladbrokes)
David Silva - 9.0 (Ladbrokes)
Samir Nasri - 9.5 (Bet Victor)
Jesus Navas - 13.0 (Bet Victor, Coral, Ladbrokes)
Fernandinho - 13.0 (Bet Victor, SkyBet, Ladbrokes, 188 Bet)
James Milner - 18.0 (Bet Victor)

Just for selecting the Toon on my Profile Details, Paddy Power very generously gave me a free £5 bet on the match, so the safest option (without being a Traitorelli) was to go for the double chance market...

Double Chance:

Man City or Draw - 1.07 (Bet 365)
Man City or Newcastle - 1.17 (Bet 365)
Newcastle or Draw - 3.8 (Bet Victor)

And finally if you fancy Newcastle with a goal or two head-start...

Asian Handicap:

Newcastle (+1) - 2.75 (Bet 365)
Newcastle (+1.5) - 2.06 (Ladbrokes)
Newcastle (+2) - 1.55 (Bet 365)

In general, since the markets opened the odds on Man City have shortened slightly so perhaps not surprisingly most of the early money seems to be going on Man City.  The one thing you can usually guarantee with Newcastle though, is that things are rarely predictable so we'll see what happens.
