The Toon V Man U: Tips Round-Up

My Tips For Newcastle United V Man U: Round-Up

Every match I give myself 100 points to place a few hypothetical bets on Newcastle and 100 points to place a few hypothetical general football bets using the odds available from OLBG.com.  I then compare how the sets of bets performed and analyse whether it's better to bet with your heart or your head.

Both my sets of tips made a profit this week, but unfortunately not in the way I was hoping.  This is how things turned out…

Bets on Newcastle...
Full Time Result:
30 points on draw at 3.7 – LOSS
Things got off to a terrible start with two goals conceded in the first fifteen minutes when unfortunately Man U dominated possession.  After that we had a much better spell and the final statistics show that we actually ended the game with more shots and possession than Man U (Shots: Toon 13, Man U 12 - Possession: Toon 53%, Man U 47%).  It's frustrating though, how on several occasions this season it seems as if we have to go behind before we start playing well.  Our cause wasn’t helped when referee Howard Webb failed to spot a blatant first half penalty for some shirt pulling in the box by Patrice Evra, and we also had a ‘goal’ not given in the second half when the ball looked to have crossed the line, so the luck wasn’t with us.  Overall though, we need to start playing well for the full ninety minutes rather than waiting until we go behind before we come alive.

Half With Most Goals:
35 points on first half at 3.1 – WIN 109 points
My prediction of an open start to the match came true but unfortunately not in the way I was hoping.

First Goalscorer:
15 points on Demba Ba at 8.0 – LOSS

Double Chance:
20 points on Newcastle or Draw at 1.9 – LOSS

Making an overall return of 109 points from 100 points and therefore an overall profit of 9 points.

This is how I did with my general football bets...
West Brom V QPR – Full Time Result:
20 points on West Brom at 1.91 – WIN 38 points

Wigan V Everton – Full Time Result:
30 points on Everton at 2.0 – LOSS

Liverpool V Stoke – Double Chance:
20 points on Stoke or Draw at 2.7 – WIN 54 points

Tottenham V Aston Villa – Asian Handicap:
20 points on Aston Villa +1.25 at 1.82 - LOSS

Ipswich V Cardiff – Full Time Result:
20 points on Cardiff at 2.4 – WIN 48 points

Making an overall return of 140 points from 100 points and therefore an overall profit of 40 points.

Both sets of bets made a profit this week, but for the second week running the best performance came from my general football tips.  The running total is now level at:
Newcastle tips – 2
General football tips – 2

World Cup qualifiers take place this coming weekend so my next set of tips will be for the match against the mackems on Sunday 21st October 2012.

. . . . . . . .
